Netflix Launches Text Adventure ‘Heart of Stone’ on Discord Bot
Netflix has been operating a Discord bot for over a year now, which assists individuals in discovering shared shows and movies according to their geographical accessibility. Today, the company is broadening the functionalities of the “Hey, Netflix” bot by introducing a text-based game.
This is the first time Netflix has brought a game like this to Discord. As you might expect, it has to do with something you’ll soon be able to stream on Netflix, the action movie Heart of Stone starring Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The film arrives on Netflix on Friday.
In Heart of Stone: Maze of Odds, you take on the role of a double agent (similar to Gadot’s character in the film). Netflix says you need to make quick decisions in “action-oriented situations.” Based on some of the details shared by Netflix beforehand, it looks like you’ll have to choose from some preset options, just like the interactive TV shows and movies it’s released in the past.
Intriguingly, Netflix says Heart of Stone: Maze of Odds will be different every time you play it. The Discord bot randomly selects scenarios from the scenario bank. In addition, you can play it alone or ask friends to join the multiplayer. The game includes collectibles that you can also pick up along the way. Finally, while Discord users around the world can check out the game, it’s worth noting that it’s only available in English.
Netflix has made a big push in games in general over the last couple of years. Last month it released Oxenfree II, the first game from one of its own studios. The company just released a gamepad app for iPhone and iPad. As such, you’ll soon be able to play its games (which are usually included with your Netflix subscription) on compatible TVs, phones and tablets.
